Felis Liber: Trait Rarity Guide

Description

This is a new and improved version of my old species sheet! But this one just focuses on the major traits of Felis Libers and the rarity of them.

Ears:

There are three different ear types: round, pointed, and dog-eared. The round ears are akin to big cats such as lions and tigers and are the most common. The pointed ears are a resemblance to domestic cats, and are uncommon. The dog-eared kind can be either single or double, but both are equally rare. They are called dog-eared because it looks like the folded corner of a book page!

Manes:

So far, only two kinds of manes have been discovered, but there are certainly more out there. The lion version is the most common, and covers the whole neck and sides of the face. The tiger mane resembles the puffy fur on the sides of a tiger's face. This kind is uncommon.

Manes are on both the males and females, and change with age. At birth, there is usually only one or two pages on the cub, and more grow around the face and spread out. As they age and become elderly, the pages begin to tatter and yellow. Targeting the age of a Felis Liber is done by looking at the condition of its pages.

Manes can have several variations. They are: the basic novel, picture book, comic book, map, music composition, newsprint, and magazine. The text on the mane can have different languages, and scientists can determine where a Felis Liber was born and raised from the text on the mane (i.e. If it's in English, it's from an English-speaking country, if it's in German, it's from a German-speaking country, etc.).

Tails:

The tail lengths are tricky because each length is slightly unique, as the length reflects a book's length. Each Felis Liber is based on a certain book, and the tail shows how long that certain book is. The most common length is a medium size, because many novels run between 200-400 pages. The longer, whip-like tails are rarer because books with high page numbers such as Atlas Shrugged and War and Peace don't come around very often! Shorter tails are for books geared towards younger readers, usually chapter books that are only about 100 pages in length.

Tails are made of twine and colored string, and are entwined and knotted at the end, ending in a tuft (see more about tuft's below). Their tails are just like bookmarks, and even have charms at the end! A Felis Liber can have anywhere between 0-5 charms. Charms reflect characters and themes in the book.

Tufts:

The tail ends in a tuft of string, just like a lion's tail ends in a tuft of hair! There are three different versions of the tuft. Short tufts are the most common. Long, flowing tufts are uncommon. Finally, the curly tuft is the most rare. Tail tufts are dependent on genetics and do not reflect the book the Felis Liber represents.

Eyes:

Felis Libers live in dim studies and libraries, and need large pupils and eyes in order to capture light and see. Every once and awhile though, a rare trait will pop up and a Felis Liber could have narrow slits for pupils. These are mostly found in populations that live in more open spaces with large windows (thus more natural light). Large pupils are the most common, and narrow eyes are a rare trait.

Fangs:

Some Felis Libers look like saber tooth cats! These large fangs are a mutation and don't really serve any purpose (not one that scientists have found yet), but owners love them as an interesting decoration. There is an uncommon version of these large fangs too, they're just smaller and stick out from the upper lip slightly. These were thought to have mutated in Felis Libers that eat more meat.

Holy hell my wrists hurt. My tablet is basically poop so I did this with my Felis Liber Base Maker and the track pad on my laptop. Ow. I'll write a better description sometime, but this is basically an update of:

Felis Liber: Species Sheet by RussianBlues

But this is just focused on traits and their rarity. I'll be making standard sheets, variation sheets, etc. Now that I have a base maker it's so much easier! :D (Cuz I'm lazy...)

Wow! A feline that represents books? Amazing!
